To work toward the fulfillment of an ambitious dream to become a doctor and serve the community takes a special person. Dr. Connie Simmons is just such a person, and the realization of her dream has been recognized. She is this year's recipient of the Womancare Award presented at the 11th annual Womancare Conference sponsored by St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
The Oran High School graduate who attended Mineral Area Community College, Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri School of Medicine is a pediatrician with Physicians Associates Group.
But her efforts go far beyond her private practice. She also serves as the team doctor for women's athletics at Southeast. "I've been told her little patients just lover her," said Edythe Davis in presenting the award. So do her big patients, including the women involved in university sports. Congratulations to Connie Simmons for achieving her dream.
