To the editor:I have had this letter simmering inside of me for a long time. I just couldn't keep it inside any longer. I am appalled by the conditions of some of the American flags flying in Cape Girardeau County. It is not proper for flags over government or memorial locations to be tattered. Lots of commercial entities have tattered flags, and that's not right. But for government or memorial locations to have them is appalling. If you must fly a tattered, raggedy flag, I'd rather see no flag. I gave a brand-new flag to a location in Jackson, and it is still flying the raggedy flag. Please fly the flag right, or don't fly it at all.
