What is this? A made-for-TV movie? No. It is the real-life story of a talented Kennett girl who left home for college and the bright lights of rock music, pausing along the way to pick up a Grammy.

Sheryl Crow came home to do a benefit for three good causes: The Kennett Educational Foundation, the Kimberly Wilburn Memorial Drama Scholarship and the Wednesday Music Club Scholarship. She did it because she wanted to, because it was a way to show her appreciation for the many townspeople who had supported and nurtured her during her formative years.

And Kennett responded by cheering on the celebrity everyone around town knows simply as Sheryl. It was a night of tributes -- both ways.
