The City of Roses will honor the efforts of Vision 2000 with an appropriate tribute: a rose garden near City Hall. The garden will recognize the efforts of dedicated volunteered who have worked hard to improve the city since Vision 2000 was founded in 1987.
Like a rose bud, Vision 2000 has blossomed into a vital organization. It has sponsored community-wide forums, recognized volunteers, planted flowers and completed a long list of projects to improve the city.
Thanks to many dedicated volunteers, Vision 2000 has helped the city mold the future of the city. The group plans to change its name to Vision 2020 at year's end and set its sights on a whole new set of goals.
Vision 2000 has proved to be a feel-good organization that has led tangible changes for community betterment. No doubt members will help tend the new rose garden as well, nurturing the colorful bushes just as they have the city of Cape Girardeau and its residents.
