RADIO CAMPAIGN HELPS ST. JUDE'S HOSPITAL

The St. Jude's Research Hospital in Memphis received a big boost from the region last week. Listeners to KEZS/K103 pledged an impressive $62,000 for the children's hospital that specializes in cancer care.

Callers offered donations from $5 to $500. A number of contributors gave money in memory of children who had received care at the hospital.

The radio campaign itself was touching, relaying first-person stories of parents and children. It hit home with many people as it gave a face to cancer care and research.

St. Jude's Research Hospital is a research center for childhood diseases. The hospital opened in 1962 and has been treating patients ever since, regardless of their ability to pay for treatment.

The St. Jude's radiothon is a longstanding tradition of the Zimmer Radio Group. This marks the group's 13th year of sponsorship, a tribute to the family-owned organization. Each year, the fund raiser is even more successful in terms of dollars raised.

The fact $62,000 was raised is also a compliment to people throughout the region. Thanks to local generosity, St. Jude's can continue to do its important mission of care and research to aid sick children.
