To the editor:
I have a few questions about stem cells that have to do with ethics and opening a Pandora's box:
1. If I donate a stem cell, do I have visitation rights?
2. If researchers create a cure for cancer from my stem cell, will I collect profits?
3. If this cure turns out to cause some unforeseen complication 10 years later, can I be sued?
4. If researchers create a weapon from my stem cell that targets a certain group or race, am I a mass murderer?
Now about voting to change Missouri's constitution: Why, if we vote to change it, can we never change it back?
I appreciate an adult cell is different than embryonic, and that we will eventually see some benefit from this technology, but this amendment is not the correct way.
