In addition to the health benefits of owning a pet, having a furry friend teaches us many lessons about love and companionship. For many families, having a pet around also can be beneficial for children.

If you're looking at adding a pet to the family, we encourage you to visit one of the local shelters. There are many lovable animals waiting to be adopted, including two shown in Sunday's Good Times. Additionally, local shelters would welcome your interest in volunteering. These facilities do good work, and volunteers play a key role in fulfilling their mission.
