Sievers is the second area resident to be named president of the international organization. Charles Wiles of Cape Girardeau was president from 1993 to 1994.

This nomination was quite an honor for Sievers and to the Jackson Optimist Club as well. It serves as another example of the fine leadership found in Southeast Missouri.
