To the editor:
In this era of budget cuts and financial worries, I am once again reminded and yet humbled by the generosity of the clergy, parishioners, alumni and friends of Notre Dame Regional High School. Their sacrifices of time, finance and talent allow us to provide quality Catholic education at a most affordable cost to all.
We often look for heroes in our society who by their example can show the young what it means to be good Christian citizens. Here in Southeast Missouri, we have only to look to the parishes that provide a substantial subsidy to the school for their students. These are the heroes of today: clergy and laity bonding to provide for our only real future, the children in our schools.
On behalf of the 480 students who will grace the halls of Notre Dame this year, I say thank you. Be assured of a place in the hearts and prayers of all here at Notre Dame.
