To the editor:
I am retirement age, and never in an election have I seen such hatred and vitriol directed at so many who dare to hold different political views. Letters on our newspaper's editorial page spew out that message of hatred, and some of them are written by people I previously respected.
There is not just disagreement in political ideology. It has gone beyond that to the expression of personal hatred directed at others, especially at President Bush.
In an attempt to grasp power, one wealthy individual on the left has been widely recognized as giving millions of dollars to help accomplish that grab of power. Last night on the evening news it was reported that some individuals are going into nursing homes and collecting votes of Alzheimer's patients. Widespread fraud of unregistered voters is expected.
There is an organization called Pray the Vote. Its purpose is to alert those of us who are Christian that we need to be much in prayer about the coming election. It is truly a war of principalities that we are seeing.
Be sure to be registered and to vote. It's no longer just a privilege. It's a patriotic and Christian obligation. There is a real choice in this election and in the direction our country will take. Think about who best represents your core values, and vote for those persons. All the Christian people have to do is to stay at home and not vote like many have done in the past.
Vote, and Pray the Vote.
