Thousands of people will congregate on the riverfront in Cape Girardeau for the annual Fourth of July Libertyfest celebration. In addition to the fireworks at 9:30 p.m., this year's celebration will be highlighted by the dedication of a new Vietnam War Memorial at Common Pleas Courthouse Park to begin at 5 p.m.
Musicians will begin playing downtown at 6:30 p.m., followed by a re-enactment of Cape Girardeau's incorporation 200 years ago plus the traditional concert by the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band. Downtown streets will be closed beginning in the afternoon.
Jackson's Fourth of July celebration will begin with a 5K run at 7:30 a.m. and end with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The Jackson festivities also will include a car show and concert by the Jackson Municipal Band. All events are at Jackson City Park.
Come out and celebrate.
