To the editor:

I joined the Cape Girardeau Jaycees in 1988. Each year since I joined, I have delivered for Toybox. There is not a more rewarding experience than being Santa. The looks of amazement on the faces are absolutely priceless. The opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much is humbling.

Consistently over the last several years the outpouring from the community has been phenomenal. In my 12 years of working with Toybox, I haven't seen our needs so great. Jaycee workers haven't worked much this week or last, because of lack of toys donated as well as cash. We need your help today. Only 125 of the 424 applications have been filled. With delivery night set for Dec. 21, we only have next week to complete the applications.

We need your support today. Write that check or drop off new toys at the locations listed in the paper.

Lastly, when I was president of the Jaycees the Toybox Trust was formed. Your contribution is completely tax deductible. All donations are used to buy toys. The other costs of Toybox are paid for by the Jaycees. Make the holiday season bright for a child. Give to Toybox.
