To the Editor:

I believe the point that has been missed in the school graduation issue is -- we no longer have summer school. Without summer school, many of these kids do not have an option. Correspondence classes can be done for some classes, but any class with lab work could not be taken with correspondence. Also, it takes math department approval before correspondence work can be done for math classes. Without the passage of the bond issue we will not be able to fund summer school. I urge everyone to vote yes on the next bond issue.

If you are fortunate enough to have a healthy, bright child who has never needed extra help, count your blessings. It is time to stop finding fault and to do something positive. Vote yes!

Our kids deserve more from us. If we have no compassion, how can we expect them to? Success as a man or woman can be measured in many ways. Give all of our kids a chance to succeed. The school bond issue is not about the school board, Neyland Clark or whether you liked the graduation policy change. Surely, we have not become that petty.

Vote Yes in October.
