To the editor: Regarding the Aug. 11 Southeast Missourian article stating Dr. Ron Anderson's determination to raise funds for the Jackson School District in view of the non-passage of the large bond issue, I wonder why Dr. Anderson refuses to accept the will of the people who twice voted down the bond issue. What doesn't he understand about the word "no"? The taxpayers have spoken, and I feel it behooves Dr. Anderson to accept their decision...

What doesn't he understand about the word "no"? The taxpayers have spoken, and I feel it behooves Dr. Anderson to accept their decision.

We who are trying to live on our fixed incomes cannot continue to absorb these tax increases. My water bill climbed from $9.22 per month to $22 per month. The phone bill, gasoline, groceries and medicine have also increased, but my small monthly check remains the same.

I feel it is high time the school board looks to the hundreds of people living in rented apartments and who have children in school to pay their share of school taxes. If they would pay their share, in all probability there would be no need for a bond issue.
