FINE COVERA OFNEW PIPE ORGAN
To the editor:
This letter was sent to Sam Blackwell, staff writer for the Southeast Missourian:
Thank you so much for your excellent story on the new Perryville organ. Your article was excellently written, and many, many people in both the Cape and Perryville areas thought that the tone of the article was just right.
I appreciate the extra time you took to provide coverage for this event, and it certainly paid off. There was a full church at the dedicatory recital, and at least 40 people from Cape drove up to Perryville. The organ builder, Martin Ott, also sends his congratulations and thanks. In addition to the organ being a splendid addition to Immanuel Church, the area is culturally richer for having acquired this instrument.
Would you also extend a word of thanks to Fred Lynch for his excellent photography as well. The pictures were great. Again, many thanks.

KEEP EDUCATION STANDARDS EQUAL
To the editor:
Recently there has been a lot written about math requirements and should they be the same for all schools.
It seems like educators are overlooking one important aspect: what is best for the student.
Some educators say math test scores should fluctuate based on a family's economic status. This is the wrong attitude.
Missouri does not rank high nationally in education. So what do some educators want to do? Water down the product.
Why do we want to lower education standards? This produces an inferior product, and eventually it hurts all students. Whether it be math or any other subject, if you lower standards for anyone, you producing an inferior product.
Unfortunately, quite often economics affects families and schools. This is not reason enough to lower state standards. It is a reason to improve across the state.
