To the editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who made our sixth annual "Shop With a Cop" program a success. We were able to purchase presents for 61 children so they could have a merry Christmas.

Thirty-six law enforcement officers from 14 departments participated in this year's program. Heartfelt thanks to the employees of the Bollinger County Sheriff's Department, Cape Girardeay County Sheriff's Department, Cape Girardeau Police Department, Chaffee Police Department, Delta Police Department, Jackson Police Department, Marble Hill Police Department, Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri State Park Rangers, Perryville Police Department, Scott City Police Department, Scott County Sheriff's Department and Southeast Missouri State University Public Safety Department.

Last, but most assuredly not least, heartfelt thanks to all the associates of the Cape Girardeau Wal-Mart Supercenter. Your commitment, dedication and enthusiasmn over the past six years have ensured that the "Shop With a Cop" program has continued and is always a success.

The photograph of Cpl. Bledsoe and Jessie Thiele that was featured in your paper is proof positive that our program was a huge success. The smile and sparkle in Jessie's eyes when he received his fishing equipment is what makes this program worthwhile.
