For decades, the 1960 hit song "Bobbie Magee" has replayed in my mind. Each time Janis Joplin sang the famous words "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose" I failed to see the forest for the trees. I always thought this statement was a rebellious put-down on freedom. It is, in fact, the most accurate truth concerning freedom one might find.

I am as proud and grateful as anyone for those who have fought and given their lives to keep our country free. I am proud I live in America. Nevertheless, I agree with Collier that the term "freedom" has taken on a new definition. Today, freedom is the password that opens the door to actions and lifestyles which lead to sin and bondage.

True freedom is found when one can say to God, "I surrender all." Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. He whom the son of God sets free is free indeed.
