To the editor:
Many Missouri counties have land-use regulations that have been used effectively in many parts of the United States. There is always opposition and people willing to use any and all methods to defeat their implementation.
Now we have a lawsuit which can be described as a publicity stunt. These tactics are nothing new. In the campaign to defeat county planning and zoning in 1992, there was in the local school newspaper an article stating that "the hearings were held during the day, making it difficult for those interested to attend." Absolutely untrue. This is the kind of garbage used to defeat many worthwhile issues.
Vote your conscience and do what you think is best. By the way, do we really want our highways to be lined with billboards?
