To the editor:

There is a big difference between a man and a dog that we should all be aware of. We give our dogs all that they need. We have not been giving humans all they need. Education is the key.

To take in a homeless dog is a great responsibility. We give him food, water, medical attention, a few toys and lots of love. We teach our animals what is good or bad and a few tricks, and he is obedient for life. We take them for walks and endure that bathing process, no matter how comical it may be, and the dog thinks we are the best master in the world. He will never bite your hand because he is loyal to his master.

It is also a good thing to help another human being. To bring another human into this world is a big responsibility. We first need to teach him love by giving it. We have to teach him right from wrong. We should teach him how to do a job that he will feel comfortable in and hopefully enjoy. He will learn that his job is his means of getting the food and home that he needs. We should teach him that to do well at his job or to invent his own is a means of getting those toys that he craves. We should take our children on walks and tell of our past experiences. Then they will grow up to be the human being that we all wanted our child to be.

You do not give a human a home, food, water and medical attention and expect him to obey you. He is not a dog. Sometimes we think that this is what he wants, but to truly give these things to someone you must first teach him how to get it.

How often does the stray animal bite.
