To the editor:
Magnificent is the word best describing the Festive Holiday Concert presented by the Southeast Missouri State University Music Department Nov. 30 in Academic Auditorium. I'm no music critic, but the audience was obviously thrilled by the beautiful blending of the 67-members orchestra and 190-member voices of the Choral Union and University Choir.
Cape Girardeau is privileged indeed to have the talents of Dr. Sara Edgerton directing the University Symphony Orchestra and Dr. John Egbert as choirmaster.
It's gratifying to find our community appreciating this display of local musical talent. There was standing room only and not much of that available.
I hope next year's concert can be held in the Show Me Center so that more of us can enjoy this wonderful musical introduction to the true meaning of the Christmas season: the coming of the Christ child. Events like this will certainly justify the performance center planned for the River Campus.
