To the editor:
There is good news for the taxpayers of Missouri, as Hancock Amendment II will be on the November ballot. This may be the most important issue you will ever have a chance to vote on. This amendment, if passed, will help to keep the jingle in your pockets; as you will have control of your tax money instead of the greedy politicians who only cater to the money interests who are represented by their paid lobbyists.
This amendment will force our elected officials to put all major tax and rate increases to the vote of the people as it should be, as they are the ones who have to pay the bills of our schools, governments, etc.
The opposition will try to tell you to let our elected officials take care of your interests. This is fine in theory but in actual practice it doesn't work. As it is now, our elected officials only cater to the money interests. The passage of this amendment will help to restore the people's confidence in our election process. As it is now, many people don't even feel it is worth their time to vote. Once these officials are elected they forget the interests of the common people. This amendment will serve as a golden rule for our elected officials to follow.
You must read between the lines as the special interest groups such as our schools, city, county and state governments will spend thousands of dollars on fancy radio and television ads to try to confuse you. Don't be deceived by their propaganda as they are only trying to keep their hands in your pockets.
This amendment will be called Amendment No. 7 on the ballot in November and will need a yes vote for its passage.
