While these two gentlemen are surely entitled to their opinion, they are also representatives of the federal government, specifically the Justice Department under Janet Reno. In my opinion, therefore, they espouse the anti-gun position of the administration and have no business interfering in a state referendum. With all due respect to both gentlemen, I would suggest the honorable thing to do is keep their opinions to themselves until after April 6, at which time, if they care to comment on the outcome of the referendum, they are most welcome. Anything else is a conflict of interest, as far as I am concerned, and direct meddling in state affairs by the federal government.
