To the editor:

We need no reminder, but the recent heat-related deaths of four people in a St. Louis-area nursing home provides a warning to all of us: Air conditioning and the electricity it uses can be a life-or-death matter.

Quality of life or death depends on electricity. I urge our legislators in Washington and Jefferson City to craft an energy policy that will keep electricity and other forms of energy reliable and affordable. We need the energy policy much more than we need the posturing that is sure to accompany it.
