To the editor:
Normally I don't make New Year's resolutions, but I think I might this time. I will try to get a little more common sense. That would be good. It seems like everywhere you turn, common sense is harder to find. When you think things can't get dumber, they do.
I've heard about road rage. Now I hear there is snow rage. Someone cleaned off a parking spot, and someone else beat him to it. He pulled out a plank and beat him a few times and then shot him for good measure. This would make you think twice next time, wouldn't it?
Another story goes that this fellow agreed to chop a pile of wood for this other fellow, and he was going to get paid $1.50 for the job. When the chopper got through, the other fellow said that was too much money for anyone to make in one day. The chopper waited in a cane break and popped the other fellow off his horse. I guess you would call that wood rage. I'll bet the dude never tried to shortchange anybody again, if he lived.
It seems to me it's best to stand back and view a situation, take a little time to think on it. Running isn't always the worst, but standing for what you believe doesn't hurt either. I guess the wood chopper thought there was nothing worse than skipping up on a debt. Your word is your honor. That seems good to me. I think I'll try that next year.
