In regard to your Page 1 story on cab service, I have complete sympathy for the handicapped, but why doesn't the Veterans Administration provide a lift vehicle for residents of the veterans home?

Also, no public service company can provide service at all times to all people on short notice.

People wait hours in emergency rooms at hospitals and never see a doctor.

The Kelley family has provided cab service in Cape Girardeau at a very reasonable rate. If the cabs had meters, it would be much higher.

Most drivers work 12-hour shifts six days a week. We have often carried six or eight bags of groceries up to a porch or up a flight of stairs without a tip or a thank you.

The drivers help the elderly and those with walkers to and from the cab.

I drove for the Kelleys four different times over the last 20 years. Put a reporter in a cab for one day, and check it out.
