LETTER: SOME TRUSTWORTHY PERSON IS BRIGHTENING THIS WORLD

To the editor:

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Hartline Hardware in Cape Girardeau, which has proven to me that honesty has not gone out of style completely and there are still people in this world who cannot be led astray by the promise of making a quick buck.

While taking a walk down Broadway the night of Dec. 19, a Christmas check from my grandmother fell out of my pocket. The already signed check was found the next day by someone from Hartline Hardware. This wonderfully honest person unselfishly mailed the check that day back to my grandmother in Arkansas with a simple note explaining it had been found by the store's loading dock.

It is not the fact I have my lost check back that I write this letter. It is because I want to share with the community the joy of knowing there is one more trustworthy person brightening this world.
