Regardless of title or job responsibilities, at some level each of us is a leader.

Leadership goes beyond CEOs and government officials. If you're a parent, you are a leader. If you serve at church, you're a leader. If you belong to a community organization, you're a leader. You get the point.

As leaders, we're faced with choices. We're tasked with providing direction for others and serving as an example. How we react to situations and interact with others matters.

Next month, a leadership simulcast returns to LaCroix Church in Cape Girardeau. The Global Leadership Summit, at Willow Creek Community Church in Chicago, has drawn many high-profile speakers from all walks of life. From government leaders to church pastors to successful CEOs, the event is an excellent resource for those wishing to hone their leadership skills.

Speakers include: the Rev. Bill Hybels, founder and senior pastor for Willow Creek Community Church; former Secretary of State Colin Powell; executive producer and Emmy Award winner Mark Burnett; author Joseph Grenny; research professor Dr. Brene Brown; management thinker Vijay Govindarajan; author Patrick Lencioni; author Liz Wiseman; the Rev. Oscar Muriu; leadership expert and author Dr. Henry Cloud; the Rev. Chris Brown; Bob Goff, founder and CEO of Restore International; and the Rev. Andy Stanley, author and senior pastor of North Point Ministries.

The summit will be on Aug. 8 and 9. Check-in on the first day begins at 7:30 a.m., and the conference starts at 8 a.m. Both days end at 4:30 p.m. Registration can be done online at lacroixchurch.org or by calling Susan Leming at 339-0302.

We realize it's a commitment to spend two days away from work, but the lineup of dynamic speakers should be worth the time.

We're pleased that La Croix again is serving as one of the simulcast host sites and hope you will consider participating.
