Jesus holds key, but it isn't for an automobile

Anyone who professes faith in Christ should be outraged by those who would misuse the teachings of Christianity in an attempt to validate a personal agenda or to increase their financial and political fortunes.

A recent guest on a TV talk show asked, "What would Jesus drive?" It was an effort to tie his environmental and political ideas to Christianity. Christianity is not about regulating the gas mileage nor to guide us in the establishment of environmental laws. It is for a much higher and far more important purpose. Christianity serves to guide us in the right way of life and ultimately to bring salvation to the souls of mankind.

God created this beautiful and wonderful world for man to use as he pleases. "Fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth" (Genesis 1:28). God left it up to man, with the intelligence and wisdom given, to subdue and dominate this earth. He did not, however, leave man to his own devices in spiritual matters such as morality and salvation. "The way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps." (Jeremiah 10:23). God directs our ways. He tells us what is right and wrong. God provides forgiveness when we go astray.

God's Word must never be profaned, trivialized or used for our own aggrandizement.
