To the editor:
I am writing in regard to a recent Dear Abby topic. Jehovah's Witnesses are often misrepresented. Wouldn't it be logical to learn the truth from the Witnesses themselves? The name, Jehovah's Witnesses, was given to the Bible Students early in the 20th century. Since God has a personal name, Jehovah, we believe those that worship him should use it. (Psalms 83:18) Faithful men like Abraham and Moses used this name of God. Like them, we serve in behalf of Jehovah, witnessing to many about his word the Bible.
Though we are not solicitors, we do go door to door sharing the good news with many. We are following the example that Jesus set for us. In Luke 9:6 it shows "Jesus and his disciples went through the territory, from village to village, declaring the good news." As volunteers we go door to door because we love our God Jehovah, and have love for our neighbors. We encourage Bible reading and offer free Bible studies. We do this in a compassionate and caring way, sharing a hope only Jehovah God can accomplish. (Revelation 21:3,4)
