To the editor:
There are many reasons I am a proud Jackson resident. Homecomers, Friday-night football and friendly people all contribute to the small-town atmosphere that other citizens and I love. The Fourth of July celebration in the city park is yet another highlight in our community.
I would like to applaud the Jackson Jaycees for the tremendous amount of work and dedication that goes into planning and delivering the spectacular Fourth of July celebration. For many years the Jaycees have labored to give Jackson residents a time to come together as a community and show support for our country.
Although an accident occurred this year, I hope the community can rally behind the men and women of the Jaycees. The greatest tragedy would be if our community was no longer able to enjoy a fireworks display because of an accident.
Thank you to the Jackson Jaycees for their continued commitment to the community. I want to let the Jaycees know that Jackson is behind them.
JUSTIN GIBBS
Jackson, Mo.
