The 26th annual Charles L. Hutson Auction benefiting Old Town Cape will be held Saturday at the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau events center.
Hutson, who died in 2003, was a local visionary, and his family continues to support the downtown area and this community. We appreciate the work of his wife, Judi, and sons, Chris and Dave, who manage the family furniture store in Cape Girardeau's downtown.
The annual auction is the primary fundraiser that helps fund Old Town Cape's operations and efforts to improve downtown Cape Girardeau.
As of noon Thursday, about 20 tickets remained. Tickets are $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight. To purchase tickets, call Old Town Cape at 334-8085.
The event starts at 6:30 p.m.; hors d'oeuvres will be available along with live and silent auctions. An after party with dessert will follow at Keller's.
Cape Girardeau's downtown has seen many changes over the years, including the Broadway streetscape. Old Town Cape has been an important community partner, working with the city and business community on ways to improve this historic part of the city. We appreciate their efforts.
