While growing comfortable in the past few years with meager outbursts of messy winter weather, Cape Girardeau and the area have been hit in the last two weeks with a pair of major snowstorms that dumped up to 20 inches of the white stuff, making ice trays of roads, scrambling school schedules, emptying bread racks and generally playing hell with people's attitudes.
