Some of the initiatives, facilities and programs at Southeast Missouri State University have been made possible by generous friends of the university. The Southeast Missouri State University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship was recently dedicated in the name of one such individual, Douglas C. Greene.
Greene and his wife Heather have been loyal supporters of the university over the years, especially in the area of entrepreneurial studies. Most recently the couple established the James L. Stapleton Endowed Scholarship. Stapleton is the executive director of the Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The Greenes' support for the university and the entrepreneurship program goes beyond financial. Douglas has been a speaker during the university's Global Entrepreneurship Week twice, and for the past three years has presented the Douglas C. Greene Award of Excellence in Entrepreneurialism during the week-long celebration. The annual scholarship is awarded to a Southeast student who has made accomplishments in entrepreneurship through the education, business and social community.
Greene has also worked with a university entrepreneurship class where student teams developed marketing plans for a product he developed.
Thank you to the Greenes for their dedication -- in both time and resources -- to the university, its entrepreneurship program and students.
