The finest of fall weather surely encouraged attendance at this year's River City Music Festival in downtown Cape Girardeau. You can also chalk up the success of the festival to the organization and planning that went on months before the musicians took to the various stages around the riverfront area. Hats off to those many organizers who worked so hard.
This area is fortunate to have so many talented musicians performing in styles to please everyone. There were several old favorites among the bands, and it was good to see some of the newcomers making their mark.
Fans of the music festival are already talking about another great event next year. Let's hope Mother Nature cooperates. Most of all, let's hope all those hard-working organizers find ways to fine-tune a winning format.
Thanks to all the volunteers, the musicians and the audiences who made this year's festival such a great time.
