The women's basketball team at Southeast Missouri State University has had a spectacular season -- and there's more to come. For the first time since the university began competing in the NCAA's Division I, the women are headed to the NCAA tournament after winning the Ohio Valley Conference tournament last Saturday.
It has been an exciting season for the Redhawk women, who have won 16 of their last 17 games. And the biggest moment so far was when the team trounced top-seeded Tennessee Tech 71-50 in the OVC tournament championship game. For the 200 SEMO fans in Nashville for the tournament, it was a time for celebration.
Now comes the NCAA selections for the Big Dance. SEMO fans will be on pins and needles Monday as the women learn who they will face in the tournament and where they will play.
Congratulations, Redhawks. You have had a great year. Best wishes for whatever the NCAA tournament has in store for you.
