Higher education is starting to be seen as an elitist institution that comes with a lot of debt and little reward. Give education a chance. Whether you are looking to take one computer class, get a certification or complete your doctorate, take that first step. Make a call, visit a campus or submit an application. With higher education shifting from a system of elites to universal access, students from every background now have the opportunity for an advanced degree.

There are services available for every problem and population, you just have to ask. From financial aid and admissions assistance to disability support services or programs for students with families, there are staff members at every institution simply to help you reach your educational goals. There are also dozens of potential rewards for attending a higher education institution. People with a bachelor's degree earn almost twice as much as those holding high school diplomas. In addition to the monetary benefits, students also gain communication, writing and critical thinking skills that employers are looking for. Students also make networking connections and can make friendships that last a lifetime. Starting the process takes one phone call. Why wouldn't you give it a shot? Maybe instead of saying give education a chance, I should rephrase it as give yourself a chance.
