Every community relies on police and firefighters

To the editor:

The person responsible for the Speak Out comment "Not most important" asked how come narrow-minded people think policemen and firefighters are the most important people in the community.

Well, they are the most important people in any community if it is going to be anything at all and any kind of a safe place for kids and family members to live.

And most of them are underpaid. But they still go out and do the very best that they can with what they get. They are always there anytime they are needed.

If anyone thinks he can do without the police and firefighters, then he is lucky, because I don't think any of us can.
