He oversaw construction of the university greenhouses and visited them almost every day. But the plants and flowers never uprooted his love of the classroom, where he worked to motivate students day in and day out.

The university has created a permanent scholarship in his honor, a fitting tribute to this professor who worked to plant the seeds of appreciation for horticulture and agriculture.
