Don't use demeaning labels
To the editor:Regarding the Nov. 21 article concerning the rejection of county paving requests, the term "recalcitrant landowners" came to my attention. There is a less denigrating term which could be used and that is "tax-paying landowner." The names of these same people can also be found in other types of county records, namely on land titles and deeds of ownership...

Perhaps in the future your writing staff may wish to check further into both sides of such issues instead of labeling someone with a somewhat demeaning label just because it looks good on paper.
