A note of appreciation to Kara Clark Summers, Cape Girardeau County Clerk, for representing the best interests of the citizens of Cape Girardeau County with positive changes made to consolidate our number of voting precincts in the city of Cape Girardeau.
This will result in immediate cost savings of more than $40,000 for the citizens of Cape Girardeau County in cost of equipment and provide for more efficient staffing on Election Day, reducing costs even further. Our voting public will have equal or better quality of access in new polling locations that include handicap access, parking, safety, privacy and a good general voting environment.
As a registered voter in Cape Girardeau, I endorse the voting precinct consolidations proposed by Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers for the above reasons mentioned and express my gratitude to her for her commitment to cost reductions, increased efficiencies and greater ease of voting.
DOUG AUSTIN, Cape Girardeau
