Instead of bringing students to education, a group of community-minded volunteers are bringing education to high school students this week. The Saturday Morning Breakfast Club will host a college fair Thursday and Friday at the Holiday Inn Convention Center.

The club is a non-for-profit service organization that is dedicated to promoting education. Last year, the group hosted a career fair at the Cape Girardeau Civic Center.

About 40 universities, junior colleges and technical schools will send representatives to Cape Girardeau this week. The fair should give students a step up to college, by providing insight about specific programs and scholarships available. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, and admission is free. Students from public and private schools throughout Southeast Missouri and parts of Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas have been invited to attend.

The club has established the mechanism for a positive learning experience. We encourage high school juniors and seniors to support the fair with their attendance.
