Church looks to next 100 years

On Oct. 16, our congregation, Trinity Lutheran Church at Egypt Mills, celebrated the 125th anniversary of the church building. It was wonderful to have so many people gather for worship at a single service and celebrate a building that has served the Lord and the community for more than a century.

In the years since the church's cornerstone was laid in 1880, the church building has weathered storms, both literal and figurative. Additions to the church have been made and some remodeling completed. Through its rough and smooth times, one thing has remained the same: The church welcomes anyone who wishes to sit in its pews and hear the Gospel.

A church building is simply a meeting place for the congregation as it prepares for and acts upon the Great Commission. With prayer and careful thought from its congregants, perhaps the Lord will permit this aged building to continue welcoming attendants for another 50 or 100 years.
