Bush's action warrants charge of impeachment

To the editor:

Since George Bush made it known over a year ago that he was going to invade Iraq, we can only assume that this is at least one reason why he did not allow the United States to join the International Court. Had we joined, Bush could now be indicted by that court as an international war criminal for invading a sovereign nation without provocation, causing the unnecessary murders of American and Iraqi soldiers and civilians.

When I say "without any provocation," I mean that, in spite of what many Americans have come to believe, Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with the Sept. 11, 2001, disaster. Most of the terrorists were our friends from Saudi Arabia.

It would have been infinitely less expensive in terms of lives and dollars to just continue the U.N. inspections for another hundred years if need be. Saddam Hussein had not attacked anyone outside of his own nation for over 12 years. While he is undoubtedly a tyrannical oppressor of his own people, the world is full of such tyrannical oppressors, and we aren't about to take them all on, are we?

In our own country, only the U.S. Senate can declare war, according to our Constitution. However, George Bush did it on his own with the tacit consent of Congress. He should be impeached for this serious violation of the Constitution.
