Band gives youth program a boost

When many people shun Cairo for various reasons, Jerry Ford and his big band came to town Sunday night to do an hour-and-a-half benefit for our Upward Basketball program at Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center.

The event raised nearly $3,000 for boys and girls in this area.

We are so grateful for this show of generosity and goodwill on the part of Jerry and his band: Steve Williams, Beverly Reece, Gene Stiman, John Quinn, Nick Neville, Joe Blackwell, Narvol Randol, Dan Cotner, Paul Fliege, Michael Goldsmith and vocalist Quitman McBride III. They gave us a night to remember and a boost to our self-esteem.
