Dexter native Tyler Montgomery made it to the show but was not selected by a judge. Montgomery, 24, lives in Nashville, Tenn. In a story by Corey Noles of the Dexter Daily Statesman, Montgomery said he plans to try out for "The Voice" next season.

It's fun to see local talent participate in national contests like "The Voice." Other area singers who have done well on the national stage through reality TV include Neal E. Boyd, who won "America's Got Talent in 2008. "American Idol" 2008 winner David Cook also is connected to the Show Me State.

Congratulations to Coty and Clinton Walker and Tayler Montgomery. We wish them the best in their careers.
