The final production in the long and illustrious history of the Rose Theatre opens in less than three weeks. The Department of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University plans to make Rose Theatre's finale memorable by staging "42nd Street." The Tony Award-winning musical employs a cast of 30, most of whom have spent many hours over the past few months singing and tap-dancing in preparation.
"42nd Street" may be the largest, most challenging and most expensive production ever attempted in the four-decade history of the Rose Theatre. Every cent will be on the stage.
When the River Campus School for the Visual and Performing Arts and its performing arts center open in the fall, the Rose Theatre will be taken over by the Department of Communication. But for now, it's filled with dancing feet.
