Dr. Kory Thoma, Head Coach of Jackson High School Varsity Basketball and Partner at Leet EyeCare has been recognized by KidSight MO for serving six years on the Board of Directors.

Katherine Patterson-Paronto, Executive Director of KidSight MO came to Cape Girardeau from Kansas City, Tuesday, October 17, dropping in at the Cape Girardeau Evening Lions Club meeting held at The Libarary (Downtown Cape) to surprise Coach Thoma.

Due to the hardwork and generosity of so many Lions Clubs across Missouri along with Corporate Donors like Leet EyeCare, 12 new photo screeners (cameras) have been purchased. The devices use infrared light enabling the rapid pace screening to pick up on risk issues related to vision loss and Amblyopia, the most common cause of childhood vision loss.

To honor Coach Thoma, KidSight Mo has placed his name on one of the new devices that will screen thousands of younger kids across the state! In fact, KidSight MO, a nonprofit organization providing free screenings for children, founded in 1995 in St. Louis, screened over 42,000 kids in the last fiscal year alone! Of that, over 4,100 were referred, leading to next step of sending the results to a nearby vision care provider.
