Local Cape Girardeau restaurant, Burrito-Ville, held a #GiveBacktoCape fundraising event for the Cape Girardeau Fire Department and their training fund on July 13, donating 10 percent of all sales from 5 to 9 p.m.

Present at the event were Cape Girardeau firefighters who socialized and ate with customers throughout the night. The fire department also brought along a fire truck that was open to the public for pictures and tours.

Training is a daily necessity for Cape Girardeau firefighters, and that daily training covers a wide range of areas including fire, medical, rescue, and disaster operations. The department utilizes their training program and skills acquired not only for themselves, but for neighboring firefighters, as well as members of the community.

Because the fire department’s training program is essential in helping to better serve the community, Burrito-Ville matched the money raised by customers at the #GiveBacktoCape event, adding $548.20 for a total donation of $1,000 to be put towards the training fund.
