The Scott City Lady Rams Varsity volleyball team traveled to Jonesboro, Arkansas Saturday, September 27th to take place in the ASU PlayDay Tournament.

The Lady Rams were in the Black Division of the tournament. Due to an injury, the Rams were only able to play with six players all day. They ended their pool play 5-1, beating Brookland, Arkansas 25-15, 25-12; St. Mary's of Memphis, TN 25-20, 25-10. Then they split with Nettleton, of Jonesboro, AR, 26-24, 19-25. They came out first in their pool based on the points won and lost. This put them in the 5th seed of the tournament out of 20 teams. They faced Piggott, Arkansas in the first round of the tournament and defeated them 25-14, 25-22. They advanced to the next round to play against Hutchison, a 5A School out of Memphis, TN. The Lady Rams had little trouble beating them with scores of 25-21 and 25-16. The semi-final game against Marion, another Memphis team, was just as exciting as the Rams defeated them 25-16, 25-20. This put them into the finals matching up against Nettleton, again. The Lady Rams came out fighting and beat the Raiders 25-17 in the first match. The second match got off to a slower start, with the Rams trailing at one point 5 to 9. Katie Diebold went back to serve and the Rams went on a 9-point streak, making the score 14 to 9, with Scott City in the lead. The Rams never looked back from that point on and finished off the Raiders with a score of 25 - 19. Anna Laitinen, a foreign exchange student from Finland, was named as the All-Tournament MVP.
