Feb. 8, 1947 Southeast Missourian

Play is a definite part of every school's program to foster proper development of the body as well as the mind. Here Trinity kindergarten pupils are shown exercising on athletic equipment, while others, at the table, are playing a game designed to assist the powers of concentration. (G.D. Fronabarger photo)

I remember that jungle gym well, even though this picture was taken a month before I was born.

Wonder what happened to it?

Fred Lynch has captured images for the Southeast Missourian since 1975, in that time moving from black-and-white to color, from film to digital and to video. The blog title is a nod to an earlier era of news photography and the 4x5 Speed Graphic: It's more important to be there for the shot than to worry about technical details.
